NXPO President Dr. Kitipong Promwong took part in the Junior Software Developer Cohort 4 Graduation Day and Senior Care Professional Cohort 1 Graduation Day on 30 and 31 May 2023. Both courses were organized by GenNX Model, a collaboration between the Office of Permanent Secretary for Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, the Program Management Unit for Human Resources & Institutional Development, Research and Innovation (PMU-B), NXPO, Generation Thailand, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University and partner organizations.
In his speech, Dr. Kitipong offered his congratulations to graduates and stated that GenNX Model is one of the initiatives NXPO has pushed to help people develop essential skills for employment. He further provided an update on government key policies in the pipeline which include IDEs development and sustainable production. The IDEs policy aims to create 1,000 innovation-driven enterprises (IDEs) with an average THB 1 billion revenue within 5 years, by employing instruments such as new models, networking and funding facilities. Sustainable production policy aims to turn the production system into green manufacturing with reduced GHG emissions as the global market is leaning towards eco-friendly products and services. In addition, NXPO is working on a policy to enable social mobility of the grassroots with funds to be created to facilitate upward movement of their financial and educational status and bring them back to the education system. He also emphasized the importance of hard, soft and future skills as well as positive attitude in the current labor market.
NXPO Director of Higher Education Innovation and Future Skills Development Division Ms. Panisa Harnpathananun said that these courses are designed to fulfil the demands of the country and industry. Senior care professionals are in high demand as Thailand is entering an aged society, whereas the digital industry is looking for talents to fill up a large number of software developer positions. Modeled after a successful international program with some customizations to fit Thailand’s context, this project helps Thai workers increase their skills to meet the needs of labor market through fast learning.
GenNX Model offers a bootcamp education that answers to the needs and context of Thailand. The software developer course has been offered 4 times since January 2022, whereas senior care professional training was first launched in the past February.
