The EU – Thailand Conference on Circular Economy and Food Technology took place on 28 November 2023 at Athenee Hotel Bangkok. Dr. Pranpreya Sriwannawit Lundberg, Director of International Policy Partnership Division at NXPO, participated as one of the panelists in the session dedicated to EU-Thailand cooperation in circular economy and food technologies – research and innovation policy landscape. In her presentation, Dr. Pranpreya presented Thailand’s Bio-Circular-Green Economy (BCG) model & research and innovation, highlighting its significance, challenges and alignment with both the National Strategy and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The food system and future food were also discussed, with a case study on food systems in Thailand.
This conference was organized by the Embassy of Spain in Bangkok celebrating Spain holding the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Co-organizers included the Delegation of the European Union to Thailand, NXPO, Thailand Science Research and Innovation (TSRI), the Program Management Unit for Human Resources & Institutional Development, Research and Innovation (PMU-B), the Program Management Unit for Competitiveness Enhancement (PMU-C) and the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA). The opening session featured welcome remarks from H.E. Mr. David Daly, Ambassador of the European Union to Thailand and H.E. Mr. Felipe De la Morena, Ambassador of Spain to Thailand.
The conference served as a platform for researchers, technologists, companies and policymakers from Thailand and the EU to engage in discussions on research and innovation in circular economy and food technology. The event also showcased projects conducted by Thai researchers who have received grants from Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe.
