On 19-20 October 2024, MHESI-NXPO, in collaboration with the College of Arts, Media, and Technology (CAMT), Chiang Mai University, organized a product review event aimed at preparing Thai entrepreneurs for the Chinese market. The hybrid event, held at Chiang Mai University, was led by Ms. Manunya Chunhavuthiyanon, Division Director of Innovation Ecosystem for Enhancing Capability of Enterprises at NXPO, and Dr. Danaitun Pongpatcharatrontep, Associate Dean and Director of the China Intelligence Center (CIC) at CAMT, who also serves as aproject advisor to NXPO’s Regional Innovation Corridor and International Cooperation Project. Attendees included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chawalit Thinvongpituk, Director of Ubon Ratchathani University Science Park, alongside entrepreneurs from the Northern Science Park, Northeastern Science Parks 1 and 2, and Ubon Ratchathani University Science Park.
During the opening session, Ms. Manunya highlighted that this initiative is part of a broader strategy to support entrepreneurs in bringing their products to market, particularly by enhancing their understanding of China’s market dynamics. China’s favorable policy promoting cross-border e-commerce (CBEC) greatly benefits Thai MSMEs by providing more relaxed regulations for foreign products sold through e-commerce platforms.
MHESI, with its extensive network of research institutes and universities across Thailand, is well-positioned to support innovation and enterprise development throughout the country, promoting local economy. The Regional Innovation Corridor and International Cooperation Project leverages international collaborations to enhance the competitiveness of Thai entrepreneurs, helping them expand their market presence globally through CBEC.
Dr. Danaitun provided an overview of the two-day event, where more than 100 Thai entrepreneurs presented their innovative products, developed with local science park. These products were reviewed by Chinese e-commerce experts and consumer representatives, who provided valuable feedback on their market potential and suggestions for product improvements to align with Chinese consumer preferences. This guidance will enable the entrepreneurs to better plan their strategies for future market expansion.
