NXPO unveils an online system supporting high-skilled manpower development and employment measures

NXPO recently launched an online system for issuing certifications of training courses and high-skilled employments in STEM fields which are used for filing for corporate income tax exemption under Thailand Plus Package. Rolled out by Thailand Board of Investment, Thailand Plus Package aims to accelerate investment in high-technology industries and contains, among others, incentive measures offering to enterprises engaging in human resource development and building up the high skilled workforce. 

Detailed information on the said measures are as follows: 

  • Employment of high-skilled workforce in STEM fields. Tax incentive is provided to enterprises hiring high-skilled employees. 50% of actual expenses, 100,000 THB/month at the maximum, spent on hiring employees with advanced STEM skill for an employment contract between 1 January 2019 – 31 December 2020 can be included in the calculation of corporate income tax exemption provided that the employment is certified by NXPO on behalf of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. Enterprises can apply for this certification online at https://tp.nxpo.or.th from 22 January -15 March 2021. 
  • STEM Workforce development. Tax incentive is offered to enterprises providing skill-training to their employees. 150% of actual expenses related to providing employees with advanced STEM training, both in-house and external, between 1 January 2019 – 31 December 2020 can be included in the calculation of corporate income tax exemption provided that these training courses is certified by NXPO on behalf of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. Training course providers can apply for the certification of STEM training course online at https://tp.nxpo.or.th from 22 January -15 March 2021.
