Dr. Kanyawim Kirtikara, Director of Program Management Unit for Human Resources & Institutional Development, Research and Innovation (PMU-B), a funding body set up under the auspices of NXPO, revealed that under the mission of manpower development, artificial intelligence (AI) is one of the key areas that PMU-B is promoting. AI technology exerts great influence on our everyday lives and this trend will continue into the future.
Currently, PMU-B is sponsoring “AI for All” project which consists of 5 sub-projects, each addressing certain target group: 1) AI Thai Smart sub-project targeting at general public, 2) a sub-project targeting at players (innovators, researchers and startups) working on AI, 3) FIBO AI / Robotics for All sub-project targeting at players in robotics, 4) Smart Agricultural Robot Contest targeting at players in agricultural robotics and 5) AI@School targeting at teachers and students in high-school level.
KidBright Online is an activity under AI@School sub-project. Dr. Saowaluck Kaewkamnerd, Senior Researcher in Educational Technology Research Team of the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC), explained that KidBright Online aims to improve coding skill – which is the foundation of AI technology – of young generations. High school teachers in 200 schools have been trained to incorporate AI into the curriculum. A number of contests have been held for students to sharpen their skill and creativity. At the recent contest, held last week, students were tasked to design a voice model for an AI bot. In addition, an online learning platform dedicated to AI technology called “KidBright AI Platform” was recently launched to make the knowledge more accessible to teachers and students.
