On 29 March 2023, NXPO, in its capacity as the national designated entity (NDE) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), was recently invited to speak in the 21st meeting of the CTCN Advisory Board Meeting in Songdo, Incheon City, Republic of Korea.
Dr. Surachai Sathitkunarat, NXPO Assistant to the President and the Director of APEC Center for Technology Foresight (APEC CTF), virtually presented “Thailand Experience on CTCN Technical Assistance” to the board. The presentation showed the successful of CTCN services to provide technical assistance for 9 projects in Thailand to help them access and use climate technology to mitigate and adapt to climate change.
Also, the committee presented Thailand project (Green Hydrogen) as an example case in the session 21.4 Review of the technical assistance request selection criteria.
The Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) is a UN body that was established in 2010 to support developing countries in their efforts to address climate change through technology transfer and capacity building. The CTCN Advisory Board is a body that provides guidance and oversight to the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN). The Advisory Board is composed of 15 members, including representatives from developed and developing countries, international organizations, civil society, and the private sector.
The main role of the Advisory Board is to provide strategic advice and guidance to the CTCN on its activities and programs, and to ensure that its work aligns with the needs and priorities of developing countries. The Board meets twice a year to review the progress of CTCN activities, discuss strategic issues, and make recommendations for improving the Centre’s performance.
