The Department of Climate Change and Environment has recently announced the organization of the Thailand Pavilion for hosting Thailand’s exhibition and side events at the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference or Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP28), scheduled to take place from 30 November to 12 December 2023 in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE). In this endeavor, NXPO will be spearheading the arrangement of the Thailand Pavilion’s Innovation Zone designed for showcasing Thailand’s net-zero technologies and innovations, alongside business matching activities. The office is working closely with a working group comprising representatives from the public and private sectors in Thailand to present the country’s climate innovations to a global audience.
Throughout COP28, Thailand will actively pursue opportunities for financial and technology assistance to support its mitigation and adaptation efforts and present its climate initiatives that have been conducted in collaboration with UNFCCC parties. Progress on the implementation of Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) Roadmap will also be reported. Furthermore, the country will seek collaboration opportunities with UNFCCC parties and other international organizations to enhance its capacity in climate technology.
The Thailand Pavilion will feature an exhibition and side events, promoting the country’s climate initiatives on the world stage. The exhibition and seminars will highlight the Thailand 2020 NDC Roadmap and Action Plans, with the focus on an action plan of the cement sector, the transition to electric vehicles, the Saraburi Model for Low-carbon City, carbon taxes, the National Adaptation Plan (NAP), and domestic and international mechanisms driving the net-zero agenda. Activities in the Thailand Pavilion, organized under the concept of “Climate Partnership Determination”, represent a collaborative effort of over 20 organizations, comprising government agencies, industries and academic institutes.
