Higher education transformation contributes to the enhancement of AI skills

วันที่เผยแพร่ 12 December 2023

On 7 December 2023, Ms. Panisa Harnpathananun, Director of Higher Education Innovation and Future Skills Development Division at NXPO, served as a panelist in the seminar titled “AI Policy AI Policy & Governance: Global AI Policy and Development”. She shared the stage with representatives from the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa), the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA) and the Capital Market Research Institute (CMRI). The seminar was part of the AI Engineering & Innovation Summit 2023, organized by CMKL University and the AI Engineering Institute (AIEI) – a consortium of six universities comprising CMKL University, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Mahidol University, Chiang Mai University, Prince of Songkla University, and Khon Kaen University.

In her presentation, Ms. Panisa discussed the role of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) and its effort towards higher education transformation. MHESI has introduced several flagship initiatives aimed at upskilling Thailand’s workforce to meet the demands of target industries. Among these initiatives are higher education reinvention and the development of Highly-skilled Manpower Developmental Platform. As AI plays a crucial role in the digital industry which is one of Thailand’s strategic sectors, higher education transformation can significantly contribute to the AI skill enhancement. New programs introduced under the higher education sandbox scheme have proven successful in producing graduates with qualifications, skills and competencies that meet professional standards, making them ready to enter the workforce.

Ms. Panisa also highlighted a joint initiative by NXPO and Generation Thailand known as the GenNX model aimed at launching software development careers for new graduates. This model offers intensive, bootcamp-style courses designed for reskilling and upskilling college students, workers and qualified adults, preparing them for entry into the workforce.
