APEC CTF JOINS TO SHARE EXPERIENCES ON FORESIGHT IN THE VIRTUAL OECD GOVERNMENT FORESIGHT COMMUNITY DAY

วันที่เผยแพร่ 25 April 2024

On April 25, 2024, the global stage of foresight and strategic planning converged online for the Virtual OECD Government Foresight Community Day. Dr. Surachai Sathitkunarat , Execeutive Director of APEC Center for Technology Foresight (APEC CTF) shares experiences on the foresight work “ APEC STI Strategic Foresight” during Session 2 Community Exchange, presenting a groundbreaking paper that delved into the latest foresight findings.

The Government Foresight Community (GFC), organized by the OECD Strategic Foresight Unit, serves as a platform for the dissemination of recent foresight work, featuring presentations of key findings and interactive sessions aimed at sharing and soliciting feedback on current plans and future priorities. Through collective experience and the synthesis of future insights, the GFC endeavors to fortify foresight capacity and confront pressing global challenges with informed anticipation.

APEC CTF and NXPO acknowledge that strategic foresight plays a critical role within both government and society at large. As policy agencies, these tools and methodologies serve as vigilant observers, identifying emerging trends, obstacles, and opportunities that might otherwise slip under the radar. Moreover, foresight acts as the government’s neocortex, serving as the hub for contemplation and reflection on challenging issues. This fosters wisdom and equips governments to navigate uncertain terrain with resilience and adaptability.

Annually, Dr. Surachai Sathitikunarat, representing APEC CTF, shares his foresight expertise at an event aimed at disseminating insights into the utilization of foresight in policy and project formulation. This year, he presented the work of the APEC Strategic Foresight project, which is one of 52 projects selected by the OECD to be presented to over 150 global participants.
