MHESI-NXPO chairs public hearing on EV conversion standards

วันที่เผยแพร่ 13 July 2024

On July 8, 2024, Dr. Thanakarn Wongdeethai, NXPO Strategist and Chairman of the Technical Committee on Standards for Parts and Electric Vehicle Conversion, chaired a public hearing on the EV conversion standards. The event was attended by 60 participants, representing 20 organizations from both the public and private sectors.

The development of these standards is part of a project to create industrial guidelines and inspection protocols for electric vehicle conversion. The project is funded by the Science, Research and Innovation Promotion Fund and the Program Management Unit for Competitiveness (PMUC) under NXPO.

These safety and performance standards were jointly developed by research teams from the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC), the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC), and the National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC). The standards encompass more than 100 inspection items, covering various aspects of electric vehicle conversion, both pre- and post- modification. Pre-modification standards cover the vehicles to be modified, as well as parts, equipment, and systems to be used in the modifications. The post-modification standards include condition and basic operation of modified vehicles, safety requirements and basic performance requirements.

Feedback from the hearing included issues such as user manuals, emergency power cut-off for rescue units, qualifications of inspectors and EV conversion operators.
