On 30 October 2024, MHESI-NXPO participated in the 125th Session of the Committee for Scientific and Technological Policy (CSTP) hosted online by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
NXPO President Dr. Surachai Sathitkunarat represented Thailand at the session. He was joined by Senior Policy Specialist Ms. Vipaporn Asavapisit and Policy Specialist Mr. Parinand Varnasavang.
In his address on “Global Relations and Engagement,” Dr. Surachai emphasized Thailand’s commitment to the CSTP’s mission, highlighting Thailand’s endorsement of the Declaration on Transformative Science, Technology, and Innovation Policies for a Sustainable and Inclusive Future, which aligns with the country’s sustainability and carbon neutrality objectives. He expressed Thailand’s strong interest in working with CSTP and its member nations to exchange best practices for effective policy implementation, citing the Supporting STI Strategy for Carbon Neutrality and Transitions Project as an exemplary initiative under the OECD-Thailand Country Programme Phase II. The project seeks to apply OECD’s Agenda for Transformative Science, Technology, and Innovation Policies in Thailand.
Dr. Surachai also underscored the importance of data-driven policy analysis, with NXPO contributing Thai policy data to the EC-OECD STIP Compass. He reaffirmed Thailand’s dedication to aligning its policies and practices with international standards as part of the country’s OECD accession process.
The 125th Session of the CSTP will continue on 6-8 November 2024, at OECD Headquarters in Paris, France.
