MHESI-NXPO, in collaboration with the Council of University Presidents of Thailand (CUPT), the Energy Research and Development Institute Nakornping, and the School of Public Policy of Chiang Mai University, hosted Design Thinking Workshop. The event, part of the Net Zero Campus Initiative, took place on 21 November 2024 at NXPO, Chamchuri Square. NXPO Sustainability Policy Division Director Dr. Saravanee Singtong and NXPO Policy Developer Dr. Natthamon Suwannaprom participated in the workshop, providing key inputs to the initiative.
The workshop aimed to design a collective strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across universities nationwide, focusing on addressing the specific needs of universities to facilitate the development of support systems for achieving net-zero goals. During brainstorming sessions, participants explored key topics such as sustaining the university network platform, methodologies for collecting greenhouse gas emission data, emission reduction measures, and government support for net zero targets, culminating in recommendations on practical solutions and innovative approaches.
The workshop was attended by over 40 representatives from educational institutions and related agencies, including the Department of Climate Change and Environment, the Thailand Environment Institute, Chulalongkorn University, Mahidol University, King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, the Sustainable University Network of Thailand, and the Panyapiwat Institute of Management. The data and recommendations gathered from the workshop will be analyzed and developed into action plans for the Net Zero Campus Initiative, a coalition of universities driving Thailand toward net-zero emission goals.
