On 10 January 2025, NXPO President Dr. Surachai Sathitkunarat represented the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) at the inaguration of the 6th cohort of the University Holding Company Directorship Certification Program (UHCDP) held at the Pathumwan Princess Hotel in Bangkok. The course was attended by university executives, government representatives, and entrepreneurs.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Surachai underscored NXPO’s collaboration with Chulalongkorn University in developing mechanisms for research commercialization. He emphasized the importance of the University Holding Company (UHC) initiative, noting that the UHCDP significantly fosters the success of UHCs by bringing together seasoned professionals to exchange knowledge and experiences. He affirmed NXPO’s commitment to supporting the program through continuous expertise sharing.

Ms. Manunya Chunhavuthiyanon, Director of the Innovation Ecosystem for Enhancing Capability of Enterprises Division at NXPO, delivered a lecture titled “Legal Liabilities and Pathway to Enterprises and University Holding Companies”. She addressed national objectives and strategies for driving an innovation-based economy, the legal frameworks facilitating innovation business growth, and the Prime Minister’s Office Regulation on Public-Private Partnerships in Projects Utilizing Research and Innovation B.E. 2566. This regulation enhances collaboration between public academic and research institutions and the private sector in innovation ventures. Ms. Manunya also provided updates on NXPO’s policies and mechanisms aimed at promoting the commercialization of research and innovation through UHCs.

The UHCDP is designed to equip university administrators, UHC leaders, and those interested in or in the process of establishing UHCs with a comprehensive understanding of their roles and responsibilities. It focuses on investment management and intellectual property management, enabling universities to effectively leverage their innovations for both social and commercial impact.
