On 7 February 2025, the NXPO delegation visited the Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology (TINT) for a study tour and knowledge exchange on fusion technology. The delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Naksitte Coovattanachai, Advisor to the President; Mr. Nonthawat Magroodin, Senior Division Director; Dr. Saravanee Singtong, Division Director; and Dr. Charnwit Udomsakdigool, Strategist.

The visit aimed to exchange insights on fusion technology and assess the status of the Tokamak Laboratory, a key infrastructure for fusion energy research. The delegation was welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thawatchai Onjun, Executive Director of TINT, Dr. Pallsan Rojanapanich, Deputy Director of TINT, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Somsak Dangtip, Manager of Advanced Engineering and Nuclear Technology Center, who provided in-depth briefings on TINT’s key projects and technological advancements.


During the visit, NXPO’s Division of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Policy Data presented a benchmarking study on Thailand’s fusion technology capabilities in comparison with other countries. The study assessed the current status of infrastructure, research, and innovation, highlighting opportunities for Thailand to position itself as a regional hub for fusion technology development.
The delegation also toured the Tokamak Laboratory, which houses Thailand Tokamak-1 —the first fusion reactor in ASEAN—marking a significant milestone in advancing fusion energy research and development in Thailand.
