วันที่เผยแพร่ 1 March 2025

MHESI-NXPO and the APEC Center for Technology Foresight (APEC CTF) participated in the 25th APEC Policy Partnership on Science, Technology, and Innovation (PPSTI) Meeting, held from 24 to 26 February 2025, in Gyeongju, Republic of Korea. The delegation was led by Assoc. Prof. Wongkot Wongsapai, Vice President of NXPO.

Assoc. Prof. Wongkot Wongsapai shared Thailand’s perspective on the implications of emerging technologies during the Policy Dialogue on Emerging Technology Session. The session focused on policy approaches to support the adoption of AI and sustainable technologies, addressing their economic, social, and environmental impacts, as well as social-driven challenges.

Dr. Srichattra Chaivongvilan, Strategist at NXPO and APEC CTF, presented updates on three PPSTI projects:

  • APEC Energy Transition Towards Net Zero: Foresight Scenarios and Policy Impact
  • Comparative Analysis and Foresight of Emerging Infectious Diseases (EIDs) in APEC
  • Identification of Emerging Signals Affecting Carbon Neutrality in APEC Using Foresight

The meeting provided valuable input to the projects which represent collaboration among researchers, academia, and industry, aiming to support policy design for the region.

In addition, the delegation engaged in discussions with APEC’s specialized units to explore collaborations on high-impact projects that can benefit both APEC and individual economies. The discussions focuses on initiatives that address challenges in science, technology, and innovation while ensuring long-term impact.

Established in 1998, APEC CTF is Thailand’s first and only foresight center formally endorsed by APEC and the Thai government. The center applies foresight tools for strategic planning and policymaking to address future challenges.
