On 17 April 2025, Dr. Surachai Sathitkunarat, President of NXPO and Executive Director of the APEC Center for Technology Foresight (APEC CTF), participated as a speaker at the international seminar “Foresight in a Rapidly Changing World,” organized by the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE) in Moscow, Russia. The virtual event brought together participants from around the world to exchange research findings and share experiences in applying foresight tools for policy planning.
In the session titled “Foresight Methodology: What’s New?”, Dr. Surachai presented the project “AI Foresight Platform for Policy Design,”
which aims to develop an AI-driven foresight system to support strategic policymaking. The platform’s first phase focuses on the health sector and leverages machine learning (ML), natural language processing (NLP), and big data analytics to identify emerging trends, weak signals, and potential future scenarios. Data is drawn from a wide range of sources—including academic publications, patents, and reports—and is validated by experts to generate in-depth information for long-term policy development.
Dr. Surachai’s presentation attracted considerable interest from attendees, as the project demonstrates an application of AI in public policy and underscores Thailand’s strong commitment to advancing foresight innovation in today’s rapidly evolving global landscape.
