OECD Thailand Country Programme is a partnership program between the Thai government and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) covering a 3-year period from 2018-2021. The three-year collaboration aims to drive Thailand’s 12th National Economic and Social Development Plan, focusing on governance & transparency, business climate & competitiveness, Thailand 4.0, and inclusive growth. NXPO participated in the program in the area of Thailand 4.0 with two key projects, namely the study on Thailand’s biorefinery sector and Thailand Country Report for EC-OECD STI Policy Compass.

Reports on two projects under NXPO’s responsibility was presented by NXPO Vice President Dr. Kanchana Wanichkorn. NXPO regularly prepared Thailand Country Report consisting of data on national trends in science, technology and innovation (STI) policy for submission to EC-OECD STI Policy Compass which is a comprehensive public database on STI policies around the world. The database is a central platform for policy research supporting government officials, analysts and scholars. A joint study on biorefinery sector in Thailand focused on the feasibility of community-based biorefinery to collect biomass from local farmers and convert it to higher value products. The study resulted in a report titled “Guidance for a Biorefining Roadmap for Thailand” containing findings from the study and a set of recommendations including enhanced coordination across relevant communities and regulatory reform.
